ME, MYSELF, & I

I drew the original sketch of this on what you may call a not so good day - skewed perspective and such. The colors were originally black and blue and the only thing on the paper were the three forms. No energy. I loved it, but I knew something was missing. I was discussing this drawing with a friend one night and we got to talking about the awesomeness of who each person believes themselves to be, and the sadness in them not being able to truly believe in and show that person to the known and unknown people in their lives. Our color and vitality gets buried with fear and the unknown. This was me taking that day of perhaps doubt in myself and expressing a belief in who I know myself to be. Me, Myself, and I.

RED OAK

I talked with Michael (fondly known as Big Mike to the community) for a while on what he wanted the drawing to represent. He had a drawing from his childhood of roots that spelt out the words RED OAK that he showed me. From that, I decided to complete the other side of those roots. A lot of our conversations were about strength and growth as a human being, becoming a better and stronger person, being a person of faith and whose life reflected just that. I wanted this drawing to represent the power in that kind of living.

SAVE THE MINDS

I had a friend approach me with an idea he had for a promotion for his foundation. The Flatwater Foundation, which was created to help provide people diagnosed with cancer along with their families and loved ones mental health therapy and family support. It resonated with me for many reasons; my Dad is an LPC and trains professional counselors and a cancer survivor, and I lost my Mom almost 14 years ago to cancer. The importance of a healthy mind amidst all of this plays a major role in the entire experience - for all! The opportunity to be a part of the Flatwater Foundations efforts was exciting for me.

LEAF ON LEAF II

I drew this second set of leaves right after the first set sold. The second time around was interesting because I felt as though I have never allowed myself to 'repeat' an idea. It opened a good amount of space in my head - allowing myself to simply add to what has already been created. As similar as they may be, they are different and they come from a different place. I started with three leaves to connect to the spiritual side of the person who requested the leaves. I'm so happy to know that someone finds inspiration and joy in lines I have created, enough to request this addition!

SOUNDS OF A HEART

I was asked to do something to represent new motherhood. Something I have never experienced, but I've had a Mom, and so I took that and imagined the flip side. I fed off of that feeling of the sound of a heartbeat in the chest echoing in my ear - and this is what 'flashes' before my eyes within that sound.
Growth, cradling, well wishes, tears of joy and pain, hearts full of love and on and on. I had quite an experience creating this and thank you to my Mom friends that helped me do a little 'market research!'

VIVID BLUE HAZE

A feeling of calm, crisp energy. A fire that doesn't burn but cools.
